BACH FLOWER THERAPY:
The English doctor Edward Bach rediscovered the healing powers of plants, and used them to develop a homeopathic treatment method that is now used across the world.
BALANCED DIET: A varied mixed diet that provides all nutrients in sufficient quantities is called a balanced diet.
BALNEOLOGY:
The study of the natural occurrence of healing water.
BAUERNBAD
(FARMER’S BATH ):
Historically, this was a mineral bath with lodging facility, but also the Alpine sweathouse sauna.
Basically, the Bauernbad was a mineral bath with lodging and food, where farmers and the middle class in those days were increasingly gathering – not only for the health benefits of the bath but also as a social occasion. The best example of the different types of bath is Ultental in South Tyrol . Historically, all types of bath are represented here.
BIO FACELIFTING:
Cosmetic facial care techniques using masks, modellage etc. using biological preparations to prevent or counter (premature) ageing of the skin, without surgical intervention or injection of substances.
BIO-SAUNA:
Also known as a tepidarium or low-temperature sauna. In this type of sauna, the ambient temperature is about 50°C with 40% to 60% humidity.
BLOOD GROUP DIET: A nutritional combination that improves the state of health and stimulates new vitality. Vitamins, herbs and bacteria are individually balanced within a menu because blood groups are the key to developing a nutritional strategy that reflects the personal dietary requirements.
BODY MASS INDEX (BMI):
If you want to find out whether your excessive weight can already be classed as obesity, you can calculate your BMI. The BMI is calculated using the formula body weight / body height to the power 2, in other words kg/m². Use a chart to evaluate your result.
BODY-FORMING:
This specific training for problem zones focuses on parts of the body where the tissue needs firming up, or that need “forming”. Body-forming can for instance be concentrated on the upper arms, legs, hips, tummy and/or bottom.
BRACING CLIMATE: Wind and weather can be beneficial to your health. A so-called climate therapy can be used to treat diseases using specific stimuli, for instance by using low temperatures and altering the air humidity. The body learns to acclimatise itself to changing weather conditions. In the mountains, the bracing climate with its lower oxygen levels trains the body to adapt itself to the lower levels of oxygen available. This is a situation that performance sportsmen have been using to their advantage for several decades in high altitude training camps.
BREAD BATH:
The modern bread bath developed by Haslauer is taken in a room with mild, dry heat. The air in the room is filled with leaven enzymes from the stove (the Greek word “zyme” means leaven).
BREATHING EXERCISES :
Conscious breathing techniques help to overcome the stress of everyday life with more concentration, energy and vitality. This is because stress and hectic in everyday life causes breathing to speed up and become flatter. This reaction has a negative effect on a person’s wellbeing and performance. Simple exercises can help return to a natural breathing technique. These exercises activate this central vital function, so that you feel fit and yet relaxed again quickly.
BRECHELBAD (TRADITIONAL FARMHOUSE SAUNA):
A herbal vapour bath from the Alps . The name Brechelbad comes from the old Bavarian word “brecheln” meaning to break flax or hemp. The heated floor is spread with pine twigs. The special bath stove is positioned in the centre of the room. Real herbs are steamed on it, and the herbal steam rises to the roof and penetrates the "Tschurtschenkorb" just below the ceiling. This is a metal basket filled with conifer twigs and pine cones. Bursts of herbal steam are emitted automatically at regular intervals. The steam that accumulates at ceiling level is pushed down the side walls mechanically, reaching the bathers’ backs. These bursts of heat against the back are considered particularly pleasant. The pine needles on the floor cause moderate stimulation of the foot reflex zones when walked on, which is a very pleasant sensation.
BRUSH MASSAGE:
With this massage, brushes made from natural hair are used. The massage always begins away from the heart, for instance with the right foot or hand. The circular anti-clockwise movements encourage the blood to flow and therefore stimulate the circulation. Brush massage is something which can also be done effectively at home.
BURN-OUT-SYNDROME:
The first warning signs are chronic tiredness and lack of energy. Burn-out syndrome, which is caused by chronic stress, leads to a loss of physical performance as well as reduced psychological robustness. Furthermore it has a negative effect on regeneration potential.
