ABDOMINAL TREATMENT:
Abdominal treatment is used in F.X.Mayr therapy. The patient is given specific breathing support whilst the abdominal cavity and the organs it contains – particularly the intestine and liver – are decongested. As a result, the diaphragm can assume its natural position again, allowing more space for the lungs. This improves the breathing and oxygen absorption in the lungs.
ACUPRESSURE:
As with acupuncture, gentle pressure and massage movements are used to stimulate and activate vital energies, based on the teachings of Far Eastern medicine.
ACUPUNCTURE:
Originally a Chinese healing method, in which certain areas of skin are stimulated by puncturing with metal needles. It is also recognised over here as a discipline of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is becoming increasingly popular in the West.
ADIPOSITAS:
Adipositas (obesity) is when the body weight is more than 10% above the normal weight, or the Body Mass Index (BMI) is higher than 25. Excessive weight can be influenced by metabolic problems and genetic predisposition. However the main cause is an incorrect diet and lack of physical exercise. If the body is provided with more energy than it can consume, the surplus energy is stored in the form of fat.
AEROBICS:
Exercise training in groups to motivating music. A popular variation that exercises the entire musculo-skeletal system is aquarobics, which is exercise in water. This works particularly well in the pool.
ALPINE WATER:
As the latest research shows, all water on the Earth has a characteristic profile. These characteristics can even be visualised using a special photographic method. According to this method, all water naturally tends to form crystals. The more natural the environment, the better the crystal formation – and as a consequence this means that the water is better and more palatable.
ALPINE WELLNESS MENU:
The Alpine Wellness Menu uses traditional ingredients from the Alps , prepared in line with today’s Wellness Cuisine standards and nutritionally balanced.
AMAS:
Austrian Moderate Altitude Study
Walking study carried out by Professors Humpeler and Schobersberger from 1998 to 2000 in Lech am Arlberg , Obertauern and Bad Tatzmannsdorf. It was possible to prove that a mountain walking holiday, if done correctly, is not only low-risk but also offers a range of positive effects – even for guests with so-called Metabolic Syndrome (high blood pressure, obesity, metabolic problems with blood sugar and fat).
ANTI-CELLULITE TREATMENT:
Strategies to combat the infamous orange-peel skin include correct nutrition, plenty of exercise, special massages, detoxifying cremes and baths, as well as special warm or cold wraps with firming ingredients.
APPLE BATH:
Skin-conditioning bath containing pectin, carotene and various minerals. It provides a slight peeling effect, as well as an exquisite apple aroma.
AQUA-GYMNASTICS:
Gymnastic exercises in the swimming pool, usually done as a group accompanied by specially qualified trainers. Ideal for rehabilitation.
AQUA WELLNESS:
Aqua Wellness is a recently developed form of physical exercise in the pleasant water temperature of a pool. The joints’ radius of movement changes, and because it becomes weightless in the water, the whole body can be moved in a completely different way.
AROMATHERAPY:
This uses mainly essential oils for holistic cosmetic and wellness treatments.
AROMATIC BATH:
A key component of phytotherapy. It is based on the healing effects of essential oils. It was practised 4000 years ago in China with great success. Today, essential oils are used in water, in the sauna or bath, or applied to the skin.
AUTOGENOUS TRAINING:
Relaxation technique that uses special breathing to bring about a relaxed state, which has a positive effect on the head and body, and therefore on the spiritual wellbeing. It is important to use a properly trained instructor.
